Morti Viventear – Trip De Boucles Piquées LP

The second time working with Morti Viventear, after the «Sleep Deprived Pessimist» cassette.

Morti is a Montréal-based producer, record collector and incorrigible binge drinker. Starting as DJ for local hiphop bands in the 90s, he’s looking back at 15 years of beat making. This full-length called “Trip de boucles piquées” took a year and a half to put together. More than half of this time was spent finding the loops and samples, and getting the original copies of the albums (mostly obscure 70s prog recordings). The collected pieces were then thrown through an MPC 2000xl sampler and a Roland VS-880 8-track to create slow-paced sound collages.

Being an avid gore movie collector, most of Morti’s previous works were inspired by the genre’s vibe and visuals. On this record, the producer explores new themes like melancholia and memories. «Trip de boucles piquées» is a trip to a dark, yet comforting setting, sucking the listener into this scenery.

This full length album is co-released with the wonderful Anette Records and limited to 150 pieces in silk screened artwork. We’re really, really stoked to have Anette on board by the way – if you’re not familiar yet with their output, go get involved anytime soon.

If you’re located in Europe, you can pre order through us or from Anette Records (especially if you’re in Germany). If you’re in North America, save a lot of shipping costs and grab it from Morti himself. The latter is also where you find the digital version.
